Governor Audigier is the producer of today's most delicate and beautiful frames, made in one of the oldest working French factories still in existence. The company was founded in 1878 by Clement Gouverneur. The small factory is located in the town of Morez in the Jura, the French capital of eyewear. Some machines are as old as the company itself – and are still in use.
These frames have been developed and produced in the same historic factory for 145 years. This is why every frame is an original and iconic masterpiece. Passion and uncompromising attention to detail have timeless value for the frames, which makes the difference between good and extraordinary frames. There is a great appreciation for the beauty of these original masterpieces, made of bronze refined with precious materials such as palladium and 18 carat gold in champagne and rose colour.
From day one in 1878, they have kept a lot in the factory; from documents, designs, hundreds of molds to old parts and complete glasses from certain periods that are still in drawers in the various offices and rooms. Each new design is put together from the past using molds that may have been used 100 years ago. The dimensions are adjusted so that the classic elegance of the past fits effortlessly into today without losing the aesthetics.
